A sunset supercell developed near Dalby giving some fantastic sunset lightning - then some high based 'showers' gave a great lightning show!

Today was a frustrating day - we sat in the heat with so much stuff occuring, but not really taking the next step to develop.  We headed out into the Downs and sat around the Oakey area for many hours - a few nice updrafts tried to develop on the eastern Downs but cooler easterly winds began to push through and that began to stabilise everything under a strong cap.  Eventually a cluster of cells developed near Cecil Plains - we took an interested and headed out - the easterly hit it also (gusting to nearly 70km/h at Dalby!)  But by the time it had got out this far it was much warmer.  It was now close to sunset with a nice RFB with pretty colours - but the best thing was the CGs - wow!!!  Absolutely incredible CGs striking down from the top of the storm with beautiful colours!  Even got one on the camera (and plenty on the video camera).

We then pushed northwards up towards Bowenville and then sat NE of Dalby and watched a nice wall cloud develop with plenty of CGs striking down (making it very easy to get on film).

Unfortunately the car had been playing up all day (the clutch burnt out due to one of the bearings wearing out), and it was getting too risky to delve further and further away from civilisation with the clutch suddenly taking a dive for the worse (rather than a funny noise, it started to have trouble to engage into 1st and 2nd).  But on the way back home, near Toowoomba some small 'showers' developed giving some nice lightning - in all honestly it's probably some of the most lightning photos I've taken in such a short time!  Below is the long list of some of the better ones...
