The first nice storm day of the season and I was in bed! But some nice structure was produced with a weak wallcloud just to my NW
|
Saturday wasn’t looking to be too bad for storms – no doubt because I was effectively bedridden! I had a bulged disc in my back and my back had locked up – I was sentenced to two weeks bed rest (yeah right). A friend of mine and fellow chaser James Chambers had come over though to keep me company and sane since I couldn’t drive (well, shouldn’t drive) and hadn’t gone anyway in around a week. We watched some weather videos and got pizza – was an enjoyable day and was made more enjoyable by developing storms to the SW.
I work from home and had to start at 4pm at the latest…I said that we should drive to Sunnybank and watch. To which James replied with “Shouldn’t you be resting?” Well…that got ignored and we drove down there anyway! But most of the storms were quite messy, and it wasn’t until I left (typical) that things started taking off. Soon after I got home and started work, I saw an interesting lowering off to my NW. I jumped in the car and headed up the street to get a better view – wall cloud!!!

Although it was only small. Unfortunately it wasn’t in a very chasable position and I was still doing forecasts, so I got some gusty, heavy rain and small hail with a few flangs but I had to head back home to finish off my work!

Still fun…there were storms developing to the west still, but I ended up having an accident where I tripped over at home and couldn’t get up (wasn’t good for my back) so I ended up having to watch the lightning show from the floor…(sigh). But served me right I guess…
