What was thought to be a marginal day certainly produced the goods - some really nice gust fronts from two lines of storms that went through Brisbane!

A near bust in thundery rain in the Wide Bay region yielded much joy as I headed home via the Northern Downs only to find a line of massive storms, with some impressive structure and wallclouds!

Temperatures got up into the 40s with DPs up around 27 - but the moisture was quite shallow.  However it did produce some spectacular updrafts in pulse storms!

The title of this report "How do you like your capping - rare or well done?"  Says it all, two very different days with wasted instability (-10 to -12 LIs and 4000-5000 CAPE).

Great day!  Followed a developing supercell from Boonah to Beaudesert before it took a 90 degree turn heading straight for Brisbane!  I experienced some 3-4cm hail and 100km/h winds in South Brisbane.

Some storms developed around the Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast Hinterland, unfortunately was working so only a handful of captures.

Most of the lightning from December 22 is in this report, the storms had little precip so almost every CG was visible, and they were incredibly lightning active!!!

(Part Two)
Part one of a supercell and lightning chase, a rather nice supercell went through Boonah, north of Beaudesert and then out to sea.  It produced four funnels under the meso area.

After work I drove down to Stanthorpe and got a nice little two hour lightning show and some strong winds from a gustfront.

around Australia!  The highlights included several supercells, two
tornadic and some fantastic storm structure and lightning shows!


After a supercell earlier in the afternoon, a severe squall line with some great lightning moved over the area to give a lightshow!

In between studying, I chased a line of storms to the west of Brisbane and witnessed a tornado on the ground for 5-6 minutes from the town of Grandchester!
