Back to 2001 to 2002 Chase Reports

The start of Thunder Downunder 2001!  This gives a general overview of the chase and explains a few things, before leading on to the actual chase reports.
November 21, 2001
This day involved travelling out west to Roma, we had some Pyro-Cu, old storm damage and some bushfire anvils!  Just a novelty thing really.
November 22, 2001
When the action started!  We got slammed in by storm storms 150km west of Roma, some great lightning, and unbelievably torrential rain and strong winds bordering to severe.
November 23, 2001
This was the most amazing lightning show I had ever witnessed!  Dubbed "Flangfest 2001" - we were surrounded by CGs sometimes hitting trees and powerpoles around us!
November 24, 2001
A bit of a bust day - but we did see some OK updrafts and played football on one of Australia's major highways!
November 25, 2001
One of my favourite chases!  After nearly busting again, a small thunderstorm that we had been following for an hour turned into a monster tornadic supercell on the Darling Downs!
November 26, 2001
SE QLD finally performed on a TDU - it only took three years for it to happen!  A lovely 500km long severe squall line formed in the SE quarter of Queensland.
November 27, 2001
Just a driving day and some scenery.
November 28, 2001
A marginal day made gave great weather for some stormchaser cricket!
November 29, 2001
A beautiful LP supercell - which we missed!!!
November 30, 2001
Lots of frustrations, high CAPe (cap and CAPE) - things evaporated quickly when they did go up.
December 01, 2001
What orginally looked to be a marginal day ended up being spectacular!  Starting with a severe pulse storms, some monsters developed to our north giving spetacular structure!
