Back to 2002 to 2003 Chase Reports

The start of Thunder Downunder 2002!  We had some weak storms, but it was mostly sight-seeing for these days.
November 20-21, 2002
We started the day climbing up to the top of Mt Kaputah and was greeted with some of the most stunning views I've ever seen!  After this, we chased storms on the Northern Slopes and onto the Tablelands.
November 22, 2002
This was an unexpected!  We encountered a stationary supercell over the Coolah Tops that produced a brief tornado and some spectacular lightning!
November 23, 2002
I had to be back in Brisbane on the 25th, so nothing for a couple of days apart from some nice scenery.
November 24-26, 2002
The Mid-North Coast and Northern Rivers looked set to fire!  Something was missing though, but there were still storms.
November 27, 2002
A rainband produced a nice gustfront in the Downs ahead of a lovely sunset on the Tablelands.
November 28, 2002
A phenomenally lightning active squall line on the Tablelands that night with a fantastic guster!
November 29, 2002
Several supercells developed through SE QLD, many with spectacular structure!  One of the better days, but storms developed close to the coast.
November 30, 2002
Capricornia rarely disappoints and today was no exception!  LIs dropped down to -10 with an upper trough and tropical moisture feeding in.  The afternoon featured a right moving supercell near Biloela.
December 1, 2002
Never before had I witnessed such an awesome sunset!  Awesome mammatus, another squall line producing a spectacular gustfront and then an awesome crawler display.

(continued)
A quiet relaxing afternoon in Monto (and the pool!)
December 2, 2002
The northern NSW Slopes put on a lovely show with late storm development continuing into the evening giving a nice lightning display.
December 3, 2002
The grand finale!!!  One of the most awesome storms I've ever chased!  A spectacular supercell rolled through southern Brisbane, with many suburbs resembling a war zone afterwards.  Incredible structure!!!
