With a light chase season - we headed out to Narrabri and waited...and waited...and waited until finally the cap broke at sunset, providing us with some fantastic lightning opportunities!

One word - INCREDIBLE!!!  Two supercells, including one MONSTER near Nanango!!!  Massive wall cloud, and numerous funnels!!!  And huge CGs!

After sweltering in oven like conditions with temperatures in the low-mid 40s, a rather nice and intense storm finally developed near Dubbo and moved towards Merriwa!

An awesome day!  Chased a squall line for 400km through Outback Queensland, at one point it eventually crossed the road in front of us nearly pushing both cars off the road!

A vigorous trough produced massive hail and a tornado on these days - Patrick Allwood videoed this tornado on the right.  I'll compile a report of the events in the coming weeks!

A right moving severe storm moved from Toowoomba to Boonah - the chase seemed to be over in a matter of minutes, but quite a beautiful back end of the storm!

What a way to finish a few days of chasing!  Four hours of morning storms, then in the afternoon an awesome gustfront followed by the best mammatus sunset I've ever seen to date!!!

Chasing the cold pool northwards, we went into the Wide Bay and Burnett area which certainly gave no shortage of storms!  The highlight was a lightning illuminated gustfront.

Hot NW winds brought bushfires near our property.  We helped fight to save a friend's property - you certainly got a real appreciation for what the RFS does!  Some photos of the event...

There is no misprint of the date - yes this wonderful lightning show was in deed in winter!!!  A classic "verandah chase!"
